A few days before the start of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, Delhi Capitals’ woes seem to be mounting. South African pacer Lungi Ngidi will miss the 17th season of the IPL due to a lower back injury. In his place, Delhi Capitals have included all-rounder Jake Fraser-McGurk in the team. Jake Fraser-McGurk has been added to their squad by Delhi Capitals for Rs 50 lakh.
Fast bowler Lungi Ngidi has played 14 IPL matches and has taken 25 wickets. His best bowling has been four wickets for 10 runs. Angidi is the second Delhi Capitals player to be out ahead of the new IPL season. Earlier, Harry Brook withdrew his name from IPL 2024 due to personal reasons.

On Friday, Cricket South Africa issued a statement saying, Delhi Capitals have released Proteas fast bowler Lungi Ngidi for IPL 2024. He is recovering from a lower back injury. Ngidi has been battling an ankle injury since India’s tour of South Africa earlier this year. Before this he has been a part of Chennai Super Kings team.
27-year-old pacer Lungi Ngidi suffered an injury last month during the SA20 playoffs. Ngidi is currently under the care of the Cricket South Africa (CSA) medical team. It is further reported that Lungi Ngidi may return to take part in the second part of the CSA T20 Challenge.
Jake Fraser-McGurk has played two ODIs for Australia. Jake Fraser-McGurk has joined the Delhi Capitals squad at a base price of Rs 50 lakh. So far he has not played a single IPL, but he has played 37 T20 matches. In which he has scored 645 runs at a strike rate of 133.54. These include three fifties. He has not taken a single wicket in T20Is.
