The chairman of the Indian Premier League, Arun Singh Dhumal, announced that the 2024 season of the league will begin at the end of March in India. However, the exact schedule of matches will be determined after the dates for the general elections are confirmed.
Dhumal stated, “We will coordinate with the Indian government and relevant authorities to ensure that the league can take place in India. Once the election schedule is announced, we will plan accordingly. We will organize matches in states where elections are not taking place during that time.”
When asked about a tentative start date for the IPL, Dhumal mentioned, “It is likely to start by the end of March, considering that the general elections are scheduled for April. We will collaborate with the government to finalize the arrangements.”
According to available information, with ten teams competing for the trophy, there will be a total of 74 matches played, possibly split into two phases due to the overlapping of India’s general elections.
